Disclaimer: Same as my other two fics, Isabelle, Shane and Nicole are the only characters I own, Loreena McKennitt owns the song "Dante's Prayer" which I took the title from, and all that. This takes place two weeks after "Retribution 2". Teaser: A song from his past helps Captain Power come to terms with Pilot's death.

Please Remember Me

Jonathan Power stood alone on a cliff and stared at what was left of the Power Base and fought back tears. It had been two weeks since Jennifer Chase had sacrificed herself to make sure Blastarr wouldn't be able to tell Lord Dread exactly where the base's location was.

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

Jonathan looked up when he heard a familiar song. He looked around and saw Isabelle Hunter and Nicole McGowan standing nearby. He instantly recognized the song they were singing as "Dante's Prayer" by Loreena McKennitt. He turned back to the rubble of the base as the two women continued.

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Isabelle nudged Nicole and nodded towards Jonathan. The other woman nodded and whispered, "I think we better finish the song first." Isabelle nodded and took a deep breath.

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We'll rise above these earthly cares

Jonathan closed his eyes and remembered every moment he spent with Jennifer. Everything from the day he rescued her from the Dread Youth to that first dance together before she died.

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

"I'll remember, Jennifer," Jonathan whispered. "If it's the last thing I do..."
