I do not own the characters other than Kanara.  I don't even own the idea of the power rangers, even though it would be cool if I did.  This is the last story of my Surprising Enemies series and it ties up the loose ends.  Hope you enjoy!

Time to Celebrate
by: Emily

"I can't believe it's finally over!"  exclaimed Katherine Hillard as she and Tommy Oliver sat in the Power Center and watched the celebrating people through the viewing globe.  Kat sighed as she watched them.

"I wish I could be out there with them, celebrating the destruction of Kanara and the freedom of the world, but I can't."  She looked up at Tommy who nodded in agreement.

"I know how you feel.  Well first of all, if we go out there we would be recognized as former power rangers, and I don't want to see everyone's reactions to us."  Tommy said quietly.  Kat nodded sadly.

"We failed them, and Kanara was able to take over the planet and destroy everything on it.  And second, I don't know if I would be able to celebrate since in killing Kanara, we also killed K-"  Tommy looked away, unable to finish.  Kat looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

"Tommy, I know it's hard to talk about her, but I have to talk to you about something.  Before Kim...died, she told us that we had so much to give to each other.  Is that true?  Do you still love me?"  Kat asked him hopefully.  Tommy bit bottom lip and looked down.  Kat felt her hope slipping away as she looked at him uneasily.

"Kat, I don't know.  It's been five years since I actually felt anything at all."  Kat looked up at him in confusion.  He looked at her and continued.  "Ever since the rangers were killed by her, I've felt that it was my fault.  I think that's why I was turned into a falcon.  I couldn't stand the thought everyone being killed while I could only stand and watch.  I don't even know why you can sit here next to me."  Kat gently put her hand on his shoulder and looked deeply into his eyes.

"Tommy, you couldn't have done anything to stop what happened.  You did everything you could to help the rangers, but it was to much for even you to handle.  You tried your best, and you should be proud of what you did.  It was the rangers time to go, and when new rangers needed to be picked, you were there."  She saw a small smile cross his face as he thought about what she had said.

"You're right Kat.  I should be proud that I did everything that I did."  The smile disappeared from his face.  "But I still regret that I wasn't able to do anything more."  He sighed softly and looked down.  Kat groaned.

"Tommy listen to me.  You wouldn't have been able to do anything else.  It would have been impossible.  What else could you have done?!" she shouted, starting to get upset with him.  He looked up at her with tear-filled eyes.

"I wouldn't have let Kanara take you."  he announced quietly.  Kat's mouth dropped open as she looked at him in surprise.

"You couldn't have done anything to stop that.  You were hurt, and she would have killed you if I hadn't done anything.  I did that to save you, and I don't regret what I did.  You shouldn't either."  He looked at her in shock.  She seemed almost proud of what she had done, even though she knew the risks of it.

"But-I....I.."  Kat looked at him and smiled as he stumbled over his sentence.  She leaned forward and gave him a quick hug.

"See?  I told you that you wouldn't have been able to do anything else."  He sighed and smiled

"You're right.  I give up.  I couldn't have done anything else to help anyone.  I admit defeat."  Kat laughed at his choice of words.  She leaned forward and hugged him.  He hugged her back, surprising himself with the emotions he felt.  He felt her start to pull away and he turned to look at her.  Her smile disappeared as she looked deep into his eyes.  As he pulled her close, she closed her eyes.  When they kissed, Kat was surprised at all of the emotions she felt in herself.  As the kiss ended, she looked up at Tommy.

"Wow," she stated.  "I've never felt anything like that."  She smiled shyly at him as he put his arm around her shoulders and looked at her.

"Kat, when she first took you away, I thought she killed you.  I thought I would never be able to see you again.  I was scared."  She looked up at him and was shocked at the sadness in his eyes.  "I thought that I had lost you before I could tell you how I actually felt."  He looked into her eyes, watching the emotions running through them.  Kat, I..I..I love you.  And I don't want to lose you again."  She smiled at him, feeling tears begin to well up in your eyes.

"I love you to, Tommy.  And I hope that I never lose you."  As they leaned close, the door to the Power Center burst open, causing the two of them to jump away from each other in shock.  Mike poked his head in and looked at the two of them.

"Are you guys coming to the ceremony or what?" he called.  The shook their heads and Mike looked at them in shock.  "But you have to come!  It's in honor of all of the rangers, former or current, living or dead.  Everyone is expecting you!"  Kat and Tommy looked at him in surprise.

"You mean, they aren't mad at us?"  Mike shook his head.

"No, they want to see the people that protected all of them and lived through all of that to bring rangers back.  Everyone's been talking about it!"  Tommy and Kat shared startled glances as they stood up and walked to the teleporting room.  As they walked in, Tommy reached for Kat's hand.  Kat put her hand into his and squeezed gently.

"Are you ready?" she asked nervously.  Tommy shrugged.  The room suddenly disappeared and in it's place appeared a huge ball room filled with people.  Four of the power rangers, in their full uniforms, turned to them.

"May I present to you former power rangers and saviors of the world, Katherine Hillard, Tommy Oliver, and Zhane!"  the white ranger announced.  The three looked at the cheering audience in surprise and happiness.  Suddenly, Kat heard her voice being called.  She looked over where the voice was and tears welled up in her eyes.

"Mum!"  she exclaimed as she ran off the stage to her waiting family.  They pulled her into a giant hug and cried.  Tommy watched them in both happiness and sadness, realizing how much he missed his family.

"What's wrong Tommy?" a voice from behind him asked.  He turned around and looked in shock at the person standing behind him.

"David?!"  He asked.  As David nodded his head, Tommy threw his arms around him.  The two started talking.  Zhane watched both of the former rangers in sadness.  He felt someone tap him on the back.  He turned around and was face to face with someone familiar.  His mouth dropped open as the person smiled back at him.

"What's wrong Zhane.  You look confused."  Karone said, smiling at him.  He looked at her in amazement.

"I thought...but didn't you...but,"  Karone rolled her eyes as he stumbled over his sentence.  She hugged him and looked up at him.  Everyone continued celebrating now that their planet was freed from the clutched of Evil.

But somewhere, in an alternate universe where the Earth was still fighting against the forces of Evil, a young girl appeared on the planet.  She opened her eyes and stood up, looking around at the life on the planet.  She looked around, looking at the people passing her.  She looked down at her leather outfit and smiled as she saw that it was still the same.  An evil smile crossed her lips as she looked around.

"Lovely." she commented as life bustled around her.  "Too bad I have to destroy it!"
