Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story. This is my first Tommy/Kat fanfic. I really like the Tommy/Kim thing, but I think that Tommy and Kat deserve a fair shake. They made a good couple, but I don't think Saban gave Kat a chance. Please send feedback! I really want to know how this is.

Truth
by: Emily

Even in my heart I see
You're not bein' true to me
Deep within my soul I feel
Nothing's like it used to be
Sometimes I wish I could turn back time
Impossible as it may seem
But I wish I could so bad baby
Quit playin' gamed with my heart

Quit playin' games with my heart
Before you tear us apart
I should've known from the start
Before you got in my heart

I live my life the way
To keep you comin' back to me
Everything I do is for you
So what is it that you can't see
Sometimes I wish I could
Turn back time, impossible as it may seem
But I wish I could so bad
You better quit playin' games with my heart

Quit playin' games with my heart
Before you tear us apart
I should've known from the start
Before you got in my heart

Quit playin' games
Baby, baby the love that we had was so strong
Don't leave me hangin' here forever
Oh baby, baby this is not a lie, let's stop this tonight

Baby, quit playin' games
Sometimes I wish I could
Turn back time, impossible as it may seem
But I wish I could so bad, baby
Quit playin' games with my heart

That sounds like my relationship with Tommy, Kat sighed as she turned off the radio and looked for and outfit to wear to the Juice Bar. It had been forever since she had been there and she was really looking forward to it. The whole gang was coming back and they had agreed to meet at the Juice Bar. I'd better wear something nice. I want Tommy to notice me. She went into her closet and picked out a magenta tank top and cutoff shorts. She looked at the top and smiled.

"Even though I haven't been a ranger for five years, I still wear pink!" she said aloud. "I wonder if Kim ever felt like this." Just thinking of the original pink ranger made Kat think about all her problems with Tommy. They had been going out for years, but Kat could tell he still wasn't over Kim yet. Kim had dumped him in the letter more than five years ago. She really wanted to show him how much she loved him, but she still saw the pain in his eyes when anyone talked about her.

"What will it take to make him realize how much I love him?" she said as she plopped onto the bed. "I've helped him through his problems, helped him get over the breakup, but I can tell she's all he can think about!" Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the doorbell ring. She jumped at the sudden noise, wondering who could be at the door. She stood up and slowly made her way to the door. She opened the door and found Tommy standing outside.

"Tommy, what are you doing here? I thought we were going to meet at the Juice Bar," Kat said. Tommy looked at her and gave her a faint smile. Kat immediatly looked at him in concern.

"Tommy, what's wrong?" she asked, thinking that Kimberly had called. "Do you want to come in and talk about it?"

"Yeah, I really need to talk to you about something." he replied as he followed Kat into the house. He sat down on the chair and Kat sat on the couch opposite him. He looked uncomfortable, and Kat suddenly had a horrible feeling.

Oh, no! He's going to tell me that he's still loves Kim and no one will ever replace her. Kat thought. She sat there, nervously biting her lip. Finally, Tommy looked at her and started talking.

"It's been a year since Kim dumped me in the letter, and I didn't think I would ever find anyone who could replace her. She was kind, affectionate, energetic, and full of spirit. She was my first REAL love," he smiled wistfully, and Kat felt the tears begin to well up in her eyes. She quickly blinked them back as Tommy continued his story. "We went out with each other for two and a half years, and that love never wavered. Then, she left for the games. I missed her, but we wrote to each other adn everything seemed fine. Then, the letter came. The one that tore my world apart. I didn't understand what I did wrong, why she broke up with me. I didn't think I would be able to pull through." He smiled and looked directly in Kat's eyes. "But you were there. You helped me pull through one of the worst times of my life. I never did thank you for that." Kat looked at him, and smiled shakily.

"Y-you don't have to," she explained, her voice wavering. "Friends help each other out." He stood up and sat down on the couch next to her. He looked in her eyes and and she was surprised at all of the emotions in his eyes.

"You're more to me then a friend, Kat," he said softly. "You showed me compassion and patience when you helped me get through the break up. You showed me how to love when I didn't think I would be able to love again. I haven't really given out love a chance because I didn't want to get hurt again. I love you, and I want to be wiht you for the rest of my life." He kneeled on the ground and took her hand in his. Kat's eyes widenend in surprise and love as he pulled out a heart-shaped diamond ring and put it on her finger. "Katherine Hillard, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

"Oh, Tommy! Of course!" She stood up and pulled him into a hug, all of her worries about Kim and his love forgotten. They stood their hugging each other, when Kat looked at the clock on the wall.

"Omigod, Tommy! We were supposed to be there ten minutes ago!" she gasped. Tommy turned around and he quickly started out the door.

"Are you ready, KAt?" he asked. She smiled and started to the door.

"As ready as I'll ever be!"
