Timeline: A few weeks after “The Results” and after Dimitria and Alpha 6 arrived.

The Proposal
by : Lucas Harrell

About three or four weeks later, Tommy, Kim, Ann, and Justin were all having fun in the park when a monster appeared out of nowhere, along with some piranhatrons.

“Kim, get Ann out of here,” Tommy said. Kim and Ann left in a flurry of white colors. Alpha 6 had teleported her out. “Shift into Turbo.”

“Red Lightning Turbo Power.”

“Mountain Blaster Turbo Power.”

Tommy and Justin morphed and tore into the group of enemies. A few minutes later, Tanya, Adam, and Kat came in to help them finish the monster off, while the Piranhatrons just disappeared. They all teleported to the command center, and found Ann just walking around, looking at the consoles and such that just had to probably be overwhelming for a three year old. She knew not to touch anything, so Alpha and Dimitria weren’t too worried about her wondering around the room, though Kim was.

“Be careful, sweetheart,” she called to Ann, “You don’t want to get shocked or anything.” All of a sudden, a flurry of blue light marked the appearance of Billy. Everyone greeted him enthusiastically, with hugs, kisses, and handshakes.

“Geez, what a welcome,” he said playfully. He looked at Justin, who was hanging back shyly. Kat nudged Justin.

“Hi, I’m Justin,” he said, extending his hand to Billy. “I’ve heard a lot about you, mister Cranston.”

“Please, call me Billy,” Billy said, “Someone calling me mister Cranston makes me feel kind of old, and I’ve had more than enough of that feeling to last me until it occurs naturally.” ‘I just wish I had someone to grow old with,’ Billy thought. It was then he noticed Ann. She seemed familiar to him, but he couldn’t quite place the face.

“Come on, sweetie,” Kim called out to Ann, “Come say hi to another friend of mine, Billy Cranston. Billy, this is my daughter, Ann.”

The fact hit Billy with the subtlety of a semi. He couldn’t help but stare at Ann as he walked over to her. “Hello, Ann,” he said, extending his hand. She shook it, but was too shy to say anything. Billy had to smile. There was something about her eyes that looked familiar, but didn’t look like it came from Kim. ‘Must be from her father,’ he thought, ‘Whoever he is.”

“It’s good to have you back, Billy,” Tommy said, catching Billy’s attention. Billy turned and looked into Tommy’s eyes. It hit him who the father was then. “As you’ve probably figured out by now, Ann’s my daughter too.”

Billy nodded. “Awesome,” he said. Tommy still couldn’t get over Billy’s near complete crossover from technobabble, as Rocky used to put it, to more normal speaking.

“I’ve got to be getting home,” Billy said, “My lab probably has cobwebs and stuff in it. I need to start cleaning it.”

“Actually,” Kim said, “Someone’s already taken care of that.”

“Really,” Billy said, “Who?”

“Oh, now that’s a surprise,” Kim said, “They said that they’d be waiting for you there when you get back from Aquitar, so you won’t have to wait to long to get that surprise.” With that, she winked knowingly to Tommy, who was surprised. He knew who she was talking about, and had known that Trini was coming in soon, but didn’t know that Trini was already back. “Mind if Ann and I tag along?”

“Sure,” Billy said, “Anyone else?”

“I would like to go, if you don’t mind,” Justin said enthusiastically, “I would like to get to know you a little better.”

‘That, and he wants to hang out with Ann some more,’ Kim thought with a smile.

“I would like to go too,” Tommy said. With that, the five were teleported to Billy’s garage, which was also a lab he had.

“So, where’s this person who I was supposed to meet here?”

“Right here.” Billy froze. ‘It couldn’t be,’ he thought. He turned, and there was his ‘surprise’ in the doorway of the garage. “Welcome back, Billy,” Trini said.

“Th-th-thanks,” Billy stuttered. His shyness around girls, which he had though he overcame years ago, came flooding back without warning.

“I wanted to give you a good homecoming present,” Trini said, almost seeming to be shy, too. “How did I do?”

Billy obviously couldn’t answer, so Kim did for him. “You did a wonderful job, Trini,” she said. Billy nodded.

“Thanks,” Trini said, “I remembered the way I used to help you clean up in here, Billy, and the slightly weird organization you had. It was hard work, having to do it on my own, but I managed.”

Billy snapped out of his funk. “Thanks a lot Trini,” he said, over his momentary relapse. He gave her a hug, and she gave him a peck on the cheek.

Trini turned to Justin. “And you must be Justin,” Trini said, “Ann’s told me a lot about you.” Justin blushed and extended his hand.

“Nice to meet you, miss Kwan,” he said politely.

“Please, call me Trini,” Trini said, “Miss Kwan makes me feel old.” Justin was reminded of Billy’s reaction to being called mister Cranston earlier, which was the exact same one, with the obvious difference, and giggled. “What’s so funny?”

“It’s what Billy said earlier,” Justin said, “He said the same thing about being called Mister Cranston.”

“Oh, really?” Trini turned her gaze back at Billy, who was blushing. She then turned her attention to Tommy. “Are you not even going to say hello to an old friend?” she asked playfully.

“Sorry,” Tommy said, “It’s nice to see you again, Trini.” They hugged and the six sit down and started to talk. Billy was staring pretty intently at Trini, but she didn’t seem to notice. Kim did, though. A little while later, Kim, Tommy, Justin and Ann teleported to the Power Chamber.

“I’ve missed you, Trini,” Billy said, “A lot. It was like a part of me has been missing all of this time.”

“I feel the same way about you,” Trini said. Billy gave her the up and down. ‘She’s so beautiful,’ he thought, ‘She’s even more so than I remember.’ His mind was then jumbled as Trini pounced on him with a passionate kiss.

“Trini,” he said between her kisses, “As much as I’d hate to bring this up, but we can’t do this, not here at least. What if my dad catches us?”

“As I remember, your dad never comes in here,” Trini said, “Without being invited or in case of an emergency. But you’re right. It’s a little too uncomfortable to do that here. Let’s go to your room.”

“Okay.” When they got to his room, Trini locked the door and pounced on Billy, who was standing at the foot of the bed. They fell back onto the bed, and there was no more talking for about two hours.

“Trini looked like she was going to eat poor Billy alive,” Kim said. Her and Tommy were alone, while Tanya and Adam had left with Ann and Justin. They were talking about Billy and Trini’s reunion the day before. “If Justin and Ann weren’t with us, they wouldn’t have been able to wait until we leave. They looked like they almost didn’t anyway.”

“True,” Tommy said, “I remember that was how you looked and acted that Christmas Eve we had together.”

“How I felt, too,” Kim said, “If they’re not careful, though, Billy will get Trini pregnant. Somehow, I don’t think that’s what they want at the moment.”

“I don’t know about that,” Tommy said, “You wanted it that day.”

“You knew that I wasn’t on the pill?” Kim asked. Tommy nodded. “All right, I admit that what I did was very deliberate. I wanted a special Christmas present, and I thought that getting pregnant would do that. Later, when I wrote the letter, I realized that I wasn’t really being fair to you, so I sent the letter.”

“All you had to do was talk to me,” Tommy said, “We would’ve figured something out. Neither of us should have gone through the heartbreak that the letter cost us. And I was wondering...”

“Yes?” Tommy was about to take the ring out, when Tanya, Adam, Justin, and Ann came through the front door.

“We’re back,” Ann announced as she ran and plopped down between Tommy and Kim.

“Good timing,” Tommy said. He got up, picked Ann up, and swung her around in the air. Ann giggled the whole time. “Did my little angel have fun?”

“Sure did, daddy,” Ann said, “We went walking around, especially in the park and had a picnic and everything.” Kim loved the way Ann took to calling Tommy daddy right away.

“That’s good,” Tommy said. He noticed that Adam and Tanya were looking a little haggard. “Did these two wear you out?”

“Kind of,” Tanya said, “They’ve just got so much energy. We could barely keep up.”

“Well, I’ve got to be getting home,” Adam said, “Would you like me to walk you home, Tanya?”

“Sure,” Tanya said. ‘And my parents aren’t home,’ Tanya said, ‘This will be perfect.’ They said goodbye to Tommy and the rest and walked in the general direction of Tanya’s house.

“Would you like to go to a movie with me tomorrow night, Tanya?” Adam asked.

“Sure,” Tanya said. ‘I’m your girlfriend,’ she thought, ‘Do you think you really have to ask?’ Her house came up pretty quickly. “Do you want to come in for a second? My parents aren’t home.”

Adam looked a bit shocked. “S-sure,” he said.

They walked up to the front door and inside. “Come on,” she said, her eyes gleaming with meaning. “Have you ever seen my room?” Adam shook his head. “Well, first time for everything.” She pulled him up the stairs and into her room.

“Cool room,” he said. It was the last thing he could say, because Tanya was on him in a second, knocking him to the floor. She gave him a passionate kiss. “Whoa. Where did that come from?”

“All of that sexual tension before has my hormones in an uproar,” Tanya said, “As far as I know, there’s only one way to relieve them.” She gave him another passionate kiss, he returned the kiss, and there wasn’t any more talking for what seemed to be the rest of the night.

Tommy was tucking Justin in. “Good night, Justin,” he said quietly, though Justin was already asleep. They had called the shelter, to let them know where Justin was at and where he was staying tonight. Tommy just stood there for a few minutes, looking at Justin. ‘He does look like me,’ he thought, ‘That hair, those eyes. I do wish he was my son, but I know that couldn’t be true. I would’ve only been eleven when Justin was born, and about ten when he was conceived. He’s the closest thing to a son I’ve got, though.’ With that, and a sigh, he left the room.

Kim came out of the room across the hall and put a finger to her lips. “That girl,” she said, “She’s hard to get to sleep sometimes. Luckily, she was already out like a light when I went to put her to bed. I wish I had a picture of her cuddled up to Justin when they were asleep on the couch. They were both so adorable.”

“I know,” Tommy said softly, “While we probably can’t wake Ann up before she wants to do so, we need to be quiet, so we don’t wake Justin.”

Kim grinned. “He’s a real sweetheart,” she said, “Tommy, you were acting like you were going to ask me something earlier. What is it?”

‘I guess now’s a good a time as any,’ Tommy thought. “Kim,” he said, taking her hand, dropping to one knee, and taking the ring box out of his shirt pocket. “Will you marry me?”

“Yes,” she said almost too loud. She flung her arms around Tommy. “Yes, I will marry you.” Tommy hugged her back and carried her into his room. There, he locked the door.

The End... for now
